Autism, or autism spectrum, is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent verbal and nonverbal communication difficulties at the social level. We do not know the origin of autism, or how to treat it, although there are several theories. We can, however, state that among those who recognized autism, accepted it, and decided to do something about this condition despite its ominous diagnosis (which for many parents carries a "label" or "stigma"), some were able to see some progress, while others even saw their children cured.

These parents broke down barriers, tore down walls, and "defeated" autism.
